Relief Society General Broadcast Favourites.

"We were not placed on this earth to walk alone"

"We have the promise, pray always and be believing, and all things shall work together for your good"

"As we remember prayer and take time to turn to the scriptures, our lives will be infinitely more blessed and our burdens will be made lighter"

"My dear sisters, your heavenly father loves you, each of you. That love never changes. It is not influenced by your appearance, by your possessions, or by the amount of money you have in your bank acount. It is not changed by your talents and abilities. It is simply there. It is there for you when you are sad or happy, discouraged or hopeful. God's love is there for you whether or not you deserve love. It is simply always there."

Life Update!

Recap on the last few weeks of summer:
-went to Halifax with my parents... absolutely LOVED it. So beautiful and so much fun. Ate at some amazing restaurants (Salty's and the bicycle thief were my favourites). Loved walking down the boardwalk and being downtown - so much to see and do compared to St. John's.
-Went to x-fest (two day concert in calgary) with our best friends where we layed on the grass and watched our favourite bands play. Including blink 182 and city and colour. so much fun
-Stefan and Amanda came up to Edmonton and stayed and the Fantasyland for their 2 year anniversary and we got to visit them. We went shopping, had lunch at Famoso, and went to the waterpark!!

As of right now... I am living in Edmonton and Jordan is in Calgary. I am moving down after I finish my leadership clinical course at the end of the month. I just wanna fast forward the next few weeks!! I miss my hunny so much!! and lately all I think about is having a baby why why WHY is that thought taking over my brain. I need to stop. Maybe its because I am around them so often at the Stollery. Either way they're dang cute. Moving on... my parents just booked our trip to hawaii for christmas! we are going to kauai for 2 weeks and we couldn't possibly be more excited. Im downloading a countdown app for my phone as we speak. Now I just gotta work on that bikini body. Its crazy for me to think graduation is just around the corner, I am so proud of myself for all the hard work I have put into the last 4 years.. its definitely paying off. I love being a nurse and I am proud to be one!!

Jordan is pretty pumped for his classes this semester too. He is trying to get into Health sciences so he is taking chemistry, human anatomy etc. and doing really well so far. He is contemplating joining the mount royal rugby team. Anyways its 11:30 which is way past my 10:00 bed time. Clinical bright and early tomorrow. Have a great day lovelys!! xoxo

1 year married.. does this make us old timers?

On July 7th Jordan and I celebrated our first year anniversary! It is so crazy that one year has already flown by. I can't imagine life without this guy. I couldn't ask for anything more in a husband. I love being married to my best friend. To celebrate we went on a weekend getaway to a small town called Harbour Grace, about 1 hour and 30 minutes north of St. John's. We stayed one night at a bed and breakfast called the Rose Manor Inn. It was amazing! The owners loved us. They were so cute and friendly. The next day we drove down to Ferryland for a lighthouse picnic! Something that we had been wanting to do the whole summer. We absolutely loved it, so much fun. We had the very best weekend, it was so nice to spend quality time together and reminisce on all the crazy/funny/good memories we shared over the last year of marriage. Can't wait for the eternity to come! I feel so blessed to have him :)
Our B&B. Too cute isn't it?
Right on the ocean
Love this handsome guy!!
The sitting area of our room!! Felt like I was on the titanic or something
Biggest and comfiest bed EVER! Okay, it doesnt look that big in the picture but I promise it was gigantic! I woke up in the morning and I was comfortably sleeping horizontal.
SEE. I even needed a step-stool to get into it haha
So luxurious! the bathroom was the size of our bedroom!
Such delicious maple salmon
Jordan ordered steak and shrimp. Those balls are stuffed with twice baked potatoes. yum
The next morning the owners delivered fresh baked scones to our room. Literally the best scone I have ever had!
Yummy fratada for breaky!
It was a fairly long drive to Ferryland but we didn't mind with this scenery!
After we parked, it was about a 20 minute hike to get up to the lighthouse
After you order your picnic, they give you a flag. Then you go find a spot on the grass and set up your flag wherever you would like to eat and they bring your food right out to you
So beautiful!!
Our picnic! We ordered fresh lemonade, a ham, brie&apple sandwich and a curried chicken candwich. It also came with tomato, orzo & feta salads and gingerbread cake with hot vanilla sauce and chocolate cake for desert! pretty gourmet for a picnic if you ask me ;) everything was so good. They make all of the food fresh in the lighthouse, even the bread!
Happy anniversary, Jordan. Thanks for the best year of my life.

Gone Fishing.

Our first time fishing together was a success! Here are some photos to prove it...
We fished off of a dock on Conception Bay. It was such a nice day out too!
Blake got one!
and then Jord! tiny little one haha
and then THIS is what our friend Chris who is from here caught! it was huge and took two fishing lines to reel it in. I forget what the fish was called but it's spiky and poisonous!

Juice Fast.

A couple weeks ago I went on a 10 day juice fast. Well okay technically it only ended up being 5 days... haha but yes juice fast means juice and only juice. This post is for those of you who are interested in doing a juice fast or maybe just want to replace one meal with juicing. Ever since Jordan and I watched the movie Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead, I have been wanting to do a juice fast. I have heard both good and bad things about it but I felt prepared and motivated to go through with it. Since I am in Newfoundland and don't have the means to buy a good juicer and take it home with me, I bought a cheaper juicer from Walmart for 50$ just to try it out and see what I think before I invest in a good one. Since I only work for one hour per day I knew that I had tons of free time to make juices and run to the grocery store every day if I needed to. I wanted to be prepared, not starving. My good friend Cody and sister-in-law Shyenne decided they wanted to do it too, which helped immensely and helped me to not feel like "no one knows what im feeling like right now" type thing. The day before I started the cleanse I went to the grocery store and picked up just a few fruits and veggies to get me through the week...
Everything I bought came to roughly 80 dollars. People say juicing is really expensive and it takes soo many vegetables to make one juice but to be quite honest I didn't find it that bad. The produce I bought lasted me a long time considering I made 5 juices per day.
Day 1 - I felt STARVING, not to mention I was so, so tired. Very lethargic and constantly thinking of food. I drank a ton of water which helped but it was hard not to run to the cupboard, and even harder to watch Jordan eat a yummy dinner when he got home from work.
Day 2 - I woke up feeling so slender haha zero bloat and felt very light. I was excited to keep going. Day two started off easier but as the day went on it got harder and harder. I still felt exhausted and drained of energy. I literally HAD to take an afternoon nap. I found that I was fine before 3 and after 6. I also had a very bad headache.
Day 3 - I tried to drink even more water today, as I didn't want another horrible headache. The juices started to taste yummier to me and I found a bunch of delicious recipes so I was excited to try out new things and experiment with it. It was really hard to go out and walk around because everywhere you went there was food haha.
Day 4 - It got A LOT easier from here on out. I was ok with my 5 juices a day, did not feel hungry at all. My stomach felt good and never hurt or felt bloated at all. I started to get bad muscle aches in my lower back, arms, and legs, and my skin started to breakout. Both of these are side effects of juicing because all of the toxins are leaving your body and your body is trying to rid you of them and cleanse you out completely. After 24 hours the aches stopped and my breakouts cleared right up.
Day 5 - I had lost 3 pounds and I felt really good, so I decided to ease myself off of the fast and introduce foods into my diet. I am so happy I did it BUT I don't think I would ever do the fast again, maybe if I wanted to loose a bunch of weight but I found it really hard mentally and physically. Now I just replace one meal with a juice which you still get the same benefits of juicing while you don't feel deprived and tired all the time. I pretty much just throw in whatever I have in the fridge. I am for sure buying a juicer once I get home!

Here are some of my favourite juice recipes...

Farewell Shyenne!

A week or so ago Shyenne, my sister-in-law, left Newfoundland to go back home to Idaho for the remainder of the summer. It was so nice having her here and getting to know each other better for the last month and a half. Before she left we went out for sushi and italian pizza (not the same night, don't worry haha). We went to Sun Sushi in Downtown and it was so delicious! All of the fish was so incredibly fresh and the crab was REAL! not imitation! Best sushi experience... even Jordan agrees and he is pretty much a sushi connoisseur haha. He eats all the gross stuff... eel and octopus included. The following night everyone went out to Piatto Pizzaria for Shyenne's last night. We were sad to see her leave and we miss having her here with us!
How Americans eat sushi.
Jordan just soo happy and excited to eat his gigantic calzone.
I ordered a beet, goat cheese, and walnut salad, with prociutto wrapped mozzarella balls... to die for!

Wednesday morning hike.

Every wednesday morning everyone does a fun activity together.. hiking, kick ball, mini golf etc. A little while ago we hiked around Signal Hill and had so much fun. Lets just say we went a little off route and as a result blood was shed haha. It was a foggy morning but after an hour it all cleared up for the prettiest view!
