Our new favourite spot.

It was really warm here on saturday so Lindsay and I decided to go on a hike and discovered the prettiest cove called middle beach cove just outside of St. John's. It is only 5 minutes from our apartments and literally on the edge of the world. It is right beside the ocean sciences building of the university so a bunch of students were scuba diving around there. so cool! It was really windy being that close to the ocean but since the hike was pretty much straight uphill it felt good. We hiked on a path called the east coast trail, which is the biggest trail in north america it has hundreds of paths branching off each path. We hiked up to the top of a cliff where the cove was, it only took us an hour but it felt like five lol. There were fire pits along the rocks which would be such a cool place to have a a fire and roast marshmallows.. next time! Lindsay and I were the only ones on there so it was just us and all of the moose out there!! It is so pretty its definately our go to spot now, I probably took too many pictures but I don't care im gonna share them all anyway!
Made it to the top!

Mornings are meant for exploring.

Yesterday we went to Signal Hill and Fort Amherst with the Pizzey's for a morning outing and had so so much fun exploring. Signal Hill is a pretty popular and historic place in Newfoundland.. it was the first lighthouse to ever receive a signal or telegram (hence the name). The site was also a big prison, then a quarantine hospital (scarey?), and then troops stationed there during world war two. You probably won't be able to see it in our pictures but all throughout the hill and cliffs there are paths for walking and hiking. I feel like we genuinely appreciated newfoundland much more after yesterday haha, it is so beautiful here!! From the top we had such an pretty view of the harbour and downtown.. so colourful. After, we went to Fort Amherst where an old lighthouse is still running and there is a bunch of old ruins which jordan and blake had fun exploring. Anyways I sound like such a tourist lol so here are some pics of our day!
 Pretty view of the ocean!!
the top of Signal Hill
This was so so cool! Sign that points to different countries and tells you how far they are. Who would have known the Titanic sunk only 584 km away from where we were
View of the Harbour
Love the little houses
There were tons of old cannons everywhere
Can you imagine living there...?
quite proud of myself for taking this photo... my photography skills are expanding.. no?
 this was gigantic!!
Old ruins on the coast that were literally built into the rock

Newfoundland Post Numero Uno

We are here! I have been so bad with my camera so far but now that I have a few photos from the last week and a half I decided to post. We have been here for a little while and I must say I absolutely love life on the east coast. There is so many hills and you can see the ocean and/or lakes from almost anywhere. We live in the mainland so its not your text book colourful streets and little shops but its close to all of the necessities and walking distance to the gym and grocery stores which is nice. Downtown is exactly like the photos everything is so cute and colourful with the most amazing little restaurants and cafes. Downtown is right on the main bay where boats coming from eastern europe dock. Our apartments are really old on the outside but nice and renovated on the inside, everything is new which is so nice compared to last summer in regina. I am working as the office assistant for vivint so everyday I send all the paperwork to corporate, clean the office, run errands etc. The team this year is so much fun!! we have made so many friends and there is so many little kids and babies running around the apartment building. Last sunday we all decided to have a fire on a beach and roast hot dogs and marshmellows. It was so much fun! This sunday coming up our friend Chris (who lives here) is taking us on a hike so Ill make sure to take lots of pictures. We are loving my days here so far and cannot wait for what these 4 months have to offer :)
Waiting for our flight. Just so excited!
What every Newfie looks like. I swear everyone at our gate looked just like this!! complete with the strongest accents. So far I've learnt "whatcha getting at boi / whatcha gettin at hun" means whats up? and "stay where you at till I come where ya too" means stay there ill come get you. Sometimes its so hard to understand people!
They decided to burn the ADT sign. Black smoke = not such a good idea lol
