Beginning to look a lot like christmas.

Sorry for being so M.I.A lately... school is absolutely NUTS. Only 3 more weeks until christmas break! Counting down now. Bring on the presents, food, skiing, and family time.
SO... we decided to splurge and get a tree. It being our first christmas together and since christmas is our favourite holiday we just couldn't deny the jolly christmas spirit that a christmas tree brings...
We made a night out of it. Watched Christmas with the Kranks and listened the the Michael Buble Christmas soundtrack on repeat (it look longer to set up than we thought... who knew Jordan was a connoisseur of branch sprucing)

MERRY CHRISTMAS IN 28 DAYS!

LOVE, US.

throwback thursday.

 Have a happy weekend everyone!

awkward & awesome

Awkward:
-while on our way out, an asian couple in the lobby of our apartment building who were carrying six grocery bags asked us to help them carry the bags up to their apartment. Didn't speak much english and we each carried one item upstairs. I carried the loaf of bread. Awkward elevator ride.
-when someone carves "F#%! you" on the wall outside of our apartment door and I put a anonymous sticky note politely saying "grow up, thanks". Sorry, had to be said. psssh renters.
-when I try to be sneaky and run to the laundry room to switch over a load to the dryer when our neighbour catches me in my robe and slippers.
-my clinical unit. period. just awkward. I am so out of my element and feel completely lost everyday. It's overwhelming. And awkward at the same time.
-OH on top of that, my patient independently going to the washroom and getting back into bed then ringing the call bell and yelling "NURSE JENNI!!!" what did she want? for me to go flush the toilet for her. Enough said.
-realizing you are completely incompetent when it comes to operating a blender. Another mis-hap tonight. uh oh.

Awesome
-our church calling... your looking at the new nursery workers. LOVE it.
-jordan packing me a gourmet lunch to take to clinical complete with an encouraging & loving note
-jordan surprising me with AVX tickets to see the new twilight movie this saturday
-just one more day of clinical until the weekend. counting down now.
-TLC marathons. It's addictive, sue me.
-how we bought christmas ornaments without having a tree. just too excited I guess.
-waking up at 5 30 AM yet feeling completely refreshed and ready for the day. Rare, but awesome.
-can I say it again? modern family. Could watch reruns all day and still laugh like the first time. wednesday's are our favourite.
-texting my grandparents. never thought I'd see the day. thanks to their "texting course" it was made possible.
-air wick christmas plug-ins. cinnamon spice every time I come home.
-writing stuff on my To-Do list that I've already done just so I can cross it off and admire how much I did
-cuddling my parents dog Fred. we love him & he is awesome.

Almost exactly one year ago Jordan and I met. Alana and darren somehow convinced me into writing him (a complete stranger at the time) letters while he was serving a mission for the church in Wisconsin for two years. We wrote many letters and emails back and forth over the last year of his mission and when he returned home to Calgary, he asked me out on a date. I remember being skeptical... but also very nervous and excited. His good looks were too much for me to handle and I found myself acting like a 16 year old girl all giggly with butterflies. Our first date was literally the best date I had ever been on. He took me to Pulcinella's, an authentic italian pizza place (now our favourite restaurant) and to Peters drive-in for milkshakes after. Everything seemed so natural and comfortable, maybe its because we felt we knew each other so well from the letters, emails, and phone calls. We stayed up that night until 4:00 in the morning talking and catching up. Time never went by so fast, and I didn't want to leave. The next day I was leaving to go back home to Edmonton, from that point on it was texting 24/7 and road trips every single weekend. I remember counting down the days until thursday when he was driving down for the weekend. Every weekend we became closer and even better friends than the last.

I am so grateful to have Jordan in my life and for everything that he does for me. He is so selfless and always willing to serve others. I am grateful for my life experiences that brought me to where I am today and how my series of decisions have resulted in such an amazing husband, family & group of friends.

Weekend according to photos.

1. SNOW! and lots of it. Got us in the christmas spirit now thats forsure. We even watched Arthur Christmas today (which by the way is so good) and set up our mini christmas tree. Jordan insisted on putting it in the corner on the floor which makes it look so pathetic and tiny haha... oh well.
2. Hot soup and hot chocolate. All day everyday. Something about hot liquids on blizzardy (word?) days is so cozy. I made taco soup using my friend Alana's recipe. It was so yum. And of course Starbucks peppermint hot chocolate (our favourite).
3. Discovering new smoothie creations. Such a success! Aside from the blender mis-hap below... apparently you're supposed to lift it off, not twist it off. Silly me. Jordan was literally running to the kitchen in what seemed to be like snow motion yelling "NOOOOOOO". Oops.
4. Epic fort building. Friday night consisted of homemade lasagne & caesar salad made by Lindsay and I, building a fort, and playing our favourite video game Little Big Planet. I must say the fort turned out to be quite comfy, we even had our memory foam mattress in there. Later on Alana and Darren surprised us by knocking on our apartment door... such a great night with great friends :)
5. Tony's pizza. Saturday Jordan and I went to the new 007 Skyfall movie and then met up with our best friends to celebrate my 21st birthday. We went to Tony's Pizzeria which was so delicious and fun. We probably ate enough pizza to feed a small country, it was truly so good! My friends spoiled me and got me the cutest gifts and even baked me some M&M cupcakes.
We are so grateful to be surrounded by such amazing friends who make our lives so fun and entertaining. Love you guys <3

Throwback Thursday.

I have decided to dedicate myself to weekly posts, aside from blogging whenever I want. So heres the first throwback thursday post.
Who is that handsome little devil? I honestly die every time I see this photo, makes me wanna squeeze him.
aaannnnnnd moi. Grade two the good ol' days. I remember just loving my hair that day.

Bye bye babies.

Tonight was my last shift on Labour and Delivery. Up next = acute care on a pulmonary unit. I am SO sad to be leaving this rotation. No more babies, new parents, newborn baths, labouring mommas... :(
bye babies.. see you in a year when i'm all graduated!

HBD to me!

Tuesday was my 21st birthday weeooo! Officially in my 20's people. Does this mean it's legit for me to be married now? hmm.
I had the best birthday! My family and husband spoiled me to bits. It all started bright and early when I woke up to a omelette and smoothie made by husband and pretty pretty pink flowers (he's a keeper). Since I had the day off clinical I was lucky enough to go for lunch and shopping with my mom and spend time with her. It was so nice to see her and catch up on each other's week. We went for lunch at Noorish (an amazing restaurant thats 100% organic & vegan) and then hit up the new Jcrew factory store. Fun fun fun!
Jordan and I planned on going for burgers and then go bowling but when I got home I found out that Jordan surprised me and took us to the Melting Pot instead. It was soooo good. We really went all out, lobster and all. Probably the most expensive meal we both ever had but SO worth it. Jordan never ate at a fondue restaurant before and loved it so much. Everything was so fresh and delicious. We had a four course meal and our table was basically in it's own little room. We had such a great night and I'm so grateful for husband and family for making it extra special and making me feel loved.
Birthday dinner on sunday night! Momma made a home cooked meal that consisted of ham, scalloped potatoes, salad & veggies. Can you say yum.
I love them! ... and the boy who picked them out.
Yet again, please excuse the moustache. I dont know why he always does this facial expression when he has a moustache.
Green smoothie from Noorish. soo good.
cutest card. oh and did I mention he got me a massage? best. present. ever.
The beginning to our four course meal... Brie & applewood smoked bacon cheese fondue.
Main course. This is when I discovered how good lobster is.
Creme brule white chocolate desert fondue!
... is your mouth watering yet?
Love,
Us.

the force is with us.

Family home evening monday night was a tad more eventful than usual... we decided to bare the cold weather and go to the Star Wars exhibit at the space and science centre. We had a lot of fun - especially Jordan who l-o-v-e loves star wars more than the rest of us do at least. He was like a kid in a candy store. what a cutie. The exhibit had all of the original costumes, pod racers, drawings etc. and you had to wear a wristband that logged your decisions and in the end it created your own star wars identity. Please excuse my bad camera quality and husbands moustache in the pictures below.
Just soooo amazed.
Chubaka (sp?) was so scary. 7 ft tall
my fave.
Our characters!! jordan= human jedi. me=i donno exactly but shes cool and a farmer.
ok seriously how funny is lindsay's? a tad bit of a resemblance sorry linds.
