Late night blogging at its finest.

In the midst of paper writing and cramming to get everything done by friday I decided the most useful thing to do with my time right now is blog.......
Currently I am sipping organic echinacea tea and trying to write a book review on 'The Glass Castle'. For those of you who haven't read it, please do. Do yourself a favour, you won't be able to put it down, I promise. Reading the book was great, but writing a review and applying it to resilience theory and the nursing profession, not so fun. Im expecting to stay up all night hence my reasoning for taking a break at 10:30. Jordan is really sick with a cold/sore throat so he is passed out on the couch under a billon blankets with the humidifier going. I swear I feel like I am in Hawaii right now thats how humid it is up in here. Loving every minute of it actually.
So as a result of my incredibly stressful week, I have devised a list of goals for this summer and things I have to look forward to doing in Newfoundland:
-Me time, me time, me time: Need to focus on myself! During school I often put my mental/emotional health aside and work myself to the ground with exhaustion. I am so excited to focus on my health and well-being. Some of my personal goals are..
  • Do the 30 day moksha yoga challenge
  • Go completely gluten and dairy free
  • Make a quilt
  • Scrapbook our honeymoon
  • Walk/bike/hike along the ocean
  • Take a cooking class
  • Prepare for my preceptorship
  • Take a sewing class
-Spend quality time with my friends and hubby! I am so excited to have my friend Lindsay in Newfoundland this summer. It makes the whole thing a lot easier knowing she is gonna be right there with me. I also can't wait to focus more of my time on me and Jordan's relationship. Living there for 4 months is going to be such an adventure, I honestly cannot wait.

What are you excited for?

be my valentine?

First valentines day as a married couple and I must say it was a success. Because I've never once had a good valentines day when I was dating and most of my single valentines days consisted eating copious amounts of sugar + watching the notebook, we decided that this year we would participate in the hallmark holiday in full swing, gifts and all! Jordan put so much effort into making it special for me. I am so lucky to have him as my valentine every year... ya Im gonna skip the cheesy lovey-dovey stuff and just post some pictures
Arn't they preeeetty! Woke up to these beauties bright and early. I am currently admiring them as I type. I love having fresh flowers in the house!
My gift wrappings. Quite impressed by myself. I got him a family board game (Qwirkle - introduced to us from friends. It's so fun and takes strategy too), a 'Heart Attack' box filled with reasons why I love him, a running shirt, and his favourite treats. He loved it all!
My handmade card. Turned out pretty cute!
Thanks pinterest for making me WAY more creative than normal.
My new pandora heart ring! I love love love it.
We decided to stay in and make dinner at home, do homework, then have desert and watch one of my favourite chick flicks... Valentines day :)
Jordan cooked dinner and I made desert. He made parmesan crusted chicken with spicy rose penne pasta. It was amazing! I literally married a chef. Im pretty sure I said "ok this is TOO good" over 5 times.
For desert I made Jordans favourite...twisted yogurt! Complete with all of his favourite toppings. Look at that face... pure joy.

Happy day of love everyone!

Throwback Thursday.

happy thursday everyone!

Change

With me graduating in January, we have had to make a lot of big decisions lately. There are so many exciting things in this upcoming year that we are looking forward to!

1. Moving to Newfoundland. Jordan's job requires that we move somewhere new every summer (May-August) and this year it is newfoundland! Our good friends Lindsay & Blake are coming which will be so much fun. Lobster anyone? We are so excited to see the east coast and experience life as newfies!

2. Moving to Calgary in september. Since I am able to do my final preceptorship anywhere in Alberta, I decided to do it in calgary! This gives me a higher chance to get my top choices (labor and delivery, operating room, pediatrics) and also will be a nice change. We are excited to spend more time with our family and friends from calgary. Jordan can't wait to leave Edmonton and go back to "the homeland"

Wedding bells

Last weekend we made a trip down to Idaho for Jordan's brother Max's wedding. Despite the midterm craziness we left behind and Jordan's parents both catching the flu, we all managed to have a GREAT time! Our good friend Darren also decided to come along for the drive. We split up the drive there over two days and stayed the night in Great Falls. Jordan and Darren were in heaven because the hotel had a big pool and a continental breakfast. On friday once we finally got to Idaho, Jordan and Darren went to Max's bachelor party - gun shooting on Shyenne's (the bride) family farm. Im pretty sure Jordan thinks his manliness went way up after this trip haha. After the boys had their fun we all went out to Buffalo Wild Wing's for dinner... sweet BBQ ranch chicken salad = amazing. Amanda (my sister-in-law) and I spent the rest of the night dying my hair! I decided to go a lot darker just because it's winter and I needed a change. I love it! The next day was the wedding! I always love weddings. I love going to the temple and be part of such an amazing experience. Shyenne looked so pretty and they are so in love! The rest of the day consisted of: wedding photos, family luncheon, and the reception. The reception was decorated really pretty and there were cake pops around every corner. It was so great to spend time with family and celebrate! Sorry for all of the terrible quality photos. It is a result of my camera being dead and being without charger...
On our way there! McDonalds is necessary for any road trip.

Newlyweds!! woo
